The A’s have acquired Dee Brown from the D-Backs for some cold, hard cash. Brown played in 29 games this season for the D-Backs AAA team and he was 39 for 134 (.291 avg, .758 OPS) with 26 runs scored, 2 homers and 25 RBIs. Look for Brown to stay in AAA unless the A’s get crippled again by injuries.

The A’s were only 2-4 last week as they were outscored 36-23!  The A’s didn’t pitch well or hit the ball well and that’s the reason for their horrid week. The A’s entered this week with a 24-25 record which had them in 3rd place in the American League West, 6 games behind the Angels.

Daric Barton off to a rough start for the Oakland A’s

21 year old lefty swinging 1B Daric Barton is off to a terrible start in AAA ball. Barton is supposedly the #2 prospect in the Oakland A’s minor league system according to Baseball America, but he isn’t showing it yet. In 46 games, Barton is 41 for 169 (.243 avg, .740 OPS) with 19 runs scored, 4 homers and 27 RBIs. Don’t look for Barton to get a chance any time soon with the A’s unless he starts hitting the ball much better.
